Who I Am

I began my career in venture backed SaaS environments, then expanded into the legal and personal development industries. My background in sales, marketing and finance enables me to identify the symbiotic relationship among business functions. Augmenting my foundation in fast paced, high-growth environments, I have cultivated an ability to listen and move slowly.

This unique skill set delivers value because I perceive the energy that each enterprise possesses. The humility to open up a working session by vocalizing that I don’t understand something is coupled with a readiness to do my own research and tap into my network for another perspective.

I pride myself on being a relational leader, which involves deep listening, reflecting and facilitating conversations through Non-Violent Communication and Authentic Relating. These methods seek to create connection and collaboration through greater integrity, openness, and empathy.

Applying these skills in a business context yields meaningful results for the clients that I advise . Through facilitating the formation of genuine relationships, my clients learn to form customer bonds that lead to life-long advocacy of their products.

I managed the tech and operations implementations when Theo and I worked together for a client. Theo came into our law firm as a marketing consultant, but quickly helped us focus in on organizational improvements. The structural changes we made to our operation have been profound. With his help we created a new leadership team, instituted clear accountability frameworks for the leaders of different departments, developed present time metrics and tracking, and improved our client intake systems after a thoughtful investigation of our unique customer journey. He also helped create a new approach to team meetings, and his modeling of how to run those meetings was stellar. Theo’s wicked intelligence and savvy with sales & marketing (and clearly many other business functions) is truly unique, and we were lucky our paths crossed. His impact on our firm will be long-lasting.

Theo and I worked closely to launch webinar marketing campaigns in 2019. He was technically a client, although it felt more like a partnership. What strikes me most as I recall our working relationship are two things:

(1) It started with an honest conversation about what he needed from a marketing partner like me. I shared what I needed from a marketing client. He listened skillfully, in a way where I really felt understood. That is rare. We negotiated and came to an agreement. I was so impressed with how he facilitated the process of starting the working relationship that I was left excited and inspired to begin working together.

(2) During the working relationship, I witnessed what I’d describe as rare levels of intelligence, humility, and deep expertise in sales/marketing — both the operations side and the less-intangible customer psychology side. I hold high standards for myself and my work, and I could see that in Theo as well. What surprised me was how much care and consciousness he brought to our very frequent communication over the life of that relationship. Less surprising is that we did great work together and created some pretty stellar quantifiable results.

Although Theo and I no longer work together, I now consider him one of my closest friends and we’ve been friends roughly 3 times longer than we worked together. I say confidently that what I saw working with Theo was not an act or facade. I’ve seen all the qualities I describe above develop even more through our years of friendship.
